Community in action

he redevelopment of Chessington School was part of Building Schools for the Future.

Having been awarded the project with TFT, one of our largest to date with a £20 million construction cost, IID designed with energy efficiency very much part of the concept and the building received BREEAM Excellent rating.

The ETFE roof over the central atrium provides a social heart to the school which is used for many events and activities.  We worked closely with the Principal and his deputy who were hugely invested in the transformation of the school and its effect on the local community.

This 5 Form Entry new build school won the prestigious Community Benefit Award at the 2010 RICS Awards London.

‘The challenge of managing such a prominent project is exceptionally rewarding. My vision is to have an impact on the entire community …the challenge now is to make sure what takes place inside these buildings is just as revolutionary as what has happened on the outside.’
